Border collie Hekan proves he's no one-trick-pooch by helping his owner to train horses. The talented one-year-old's name is a shortened form of 'he can do anything' and he lives up to this every day as he lends owner Steve Jefferys a helping paw at Equestrian Excellence in Melbourne. His duties include holding the horses as they're saddled, taking them for walks on a lead and fetching items. But it doesn't stop there; the wonder dog can also ride horses. Steve comments: 'He's an incredibly talented dog. He's basically my secretary.' Steve and Hekan train stunt horses for stage and film.

A lazy monkey hitches a ride to the top of a tree - sitting on the back of a parrot. The squirrel monkey hopped onto the bird and wrapped his arms around its neck to avoid the 26ft climb. He lives with a male and female blue and gold macaw at a countryside hotel, where they always eat and play together. Photographer Alejandro Jaramillo was in San Agustin, Colombia,  when he noticed the unusual friendship

A remarkable photo has captured a weasel on a woodpecker's back as the bird flies through the air. The photographer, Martin Le-May from Essex, said he 'feared the worst' for the green bird after hearing 'distressed squawking' during its struggle with the mammal at Hornchurch Country Park. After Le-May managed to capture the incredible image - which has become a hit on Twitter since it was taken earlier today - the creature managed to escape with its life.

The world's bravest raccoon hitches a ride on an alligator. Richard Jones was visiting Ocala National Forest when he spotted something strange in the Ocklawaha River — a raccoon riding an alligator. According to My News 13, the alligator quickly submerged itself and the raccoon swam away to safety.

A red-winged blackbird appeares to have hitched a ride on the back of a red-tailed hawk. The photo was captured in the DeSoto and Boyer Chute national wildlife refuge, which spans across Nebraska and Iowa, by Mike White. 'We see territorial blackbirds (among others) dive-bombing raptors,' the department explained. 'But this is definitely something you don't see every day.'

An inquisitive snail takes a look at some very sharp crocodile teeth. The land snail moved along the young saltwater crocodile's back before stretching down to take a closer look inside the reptile's toothy smile.
